April 22, 2009- CITGO Oil has conveyed a conservation easement
on the 529-acre Petty's Island to the New Jersey Natural Lands
Trust. CRI's President Michael Catania serves as Chairman of the
Natural Lands Trust.
Petty's Island is located in the Delaware River in Pennsauken,
NJ, between Camden and Philadelphia. It will be used as
an ecological, cultural and historical preserve, for the enjoyment
and education of future generations. The New Jersey Department
of Environmental Protection will oversee Citgo's cleanup of the
island, which was used as a petroleum storage and terminal facility.
Upon the completion of that cleanup, Citgo will then convey ownership
of the island to the NJ Natural Lands Trust.
CRI is proud of its role in providing technical assistance to the NJ Natural Lands Trust to make this transaction happen. We will continue to assist the Trust with developing a vision for the Petty's Island Preserve.
